You paid a designer for a beautiful Figma file. Then it went to development and came back… close-ish. The spacing is off, the fonts don’t quite match, and the animations are gone. This is one of the most common frustrations I hear — and it’s completely avoidable.
Here’s how I bridge the gap between a polished design and a real WordPress site, without the quality leaking out along the way.
Step 1: Treat the design as the source of truth
Before writing any code, I pull the exact values from Figma — the spacing scale, the colour tokens, the type sizes, the breakpoints. These become the foundation of the build, so the site inherits the design’s system rather than approximating it by eye.
Step 2: Build a custom theme, not a page-builder approximation
Page builders force designs toward their own defaults, which is exactly why builds come back “close-ish.” I build a lean custom theme so every margin, font weight, and hover state is written to match the design precisely. Pixel-perfect isn’t a slogan here — it’s the standard.
Step 3: Make everything editable — safely
A pixel-perfect site is useless if you can’t update it without breaking it. I wire up the content with structured, editable fields so you can change headings, images, and sections yourself — without ever touching the layout or the design. You get freedom to edit content, and the design stays locked to spec.
Step 4: Keep it fast
Because there’s no bloated builder loading code you don’t use, the site stays light. That means better load times, better mobile performance, and better search rankings — all while looking exactly like the design.
The result
You end up with three things that usually feel like a trade-off but shouldn’t be: a site that matches your design exactly, that you can edit confidently, and that loads fast. That’s the whole point of doing it properly — the design you approved is the site you get.
